Please believe it when I say it is MY pleasure to convince you that you're about to have an awesome time on August 4, 2012 at Toronto's Caribana!!!
Myself Buni's "Homegrown" (AKA "Omodudu Onidada", "Aquarius Age" "Sistasoul" etc), some live Bunites including yoursself, will be jammin down dat road in Toronto this year on that faithful day. Not only will we be jamming on that road, we'll ALSO be whinin and jumpin up at NUMEROUS (at least 3) soca fetes (i.e soca parties) that same week. Needless to say, like Problem Child says, we're PARTY ANIMALS, and we're about to let that dog out :D We'll be getting on bad as bad as bad can be! Yuh ready?
Good!, Then Leh'we goh!
...or as my Naijas go talk: Les go dia!
Follow me on this page for updates. Here're a few things we'll have to do:
Caribana's FIVE ToDos
1. Confirm our accommodation. So Boma (AKA Killayut) says he'll be there to host us since he has a 5 bedroom house with 4 empty bedrooms. That should be confirmed. I had mentioned that I'll be going by to visit and tell everyone if that is actually feasible. Eitherway Boma's place or a hotel, we'll need a place to dump our stuff...no, we wont be sleeping there. Why not, you ask? Because sleeping is against the Party Animal Code 2792-0. Besides, you wont have the time...too much fete-ing and whining to do.
2. Get a confirmed list of Bunite attendees. I hear Sia, Bubbles, Hans, Richie, Buni, Tintin, Homegrown (myself lol), Nikkieberry, Boma and one other Bunite in BC (in Canada)..whom's name I shamefully regret forgetting at the moment. Who else is coming for a piece'a whine??? Speak now or regret it realllly soon!
3. Choose a costume!!! Okay, this may well be the most pressing issue. Yes, you may attend Caribana without wearing a costume, but here is one little secret: you're likely to think that caribana is nice, UNTIL you actually participate in it (i.e not just be a spectator, but wear a costume there...this is called "playing mas"). So "what do I do to get a costume?" you ask? :) You'd have to purchase one. For more info on costumes, see my next post titled "What mask we picking?".
4. Figure out transportation to Toronto. Since we have most of the attendees in several States in the US, I suggest we discuss this and see how we may be able to carpool (for folks living close to Canadian borders).
5. Book our ride(s) for within Toronto. 'Nuff said. And we best book this early or it'd be pointless trying. Toronto gets booked up really early for Caribana...as early as July 1, and Caribana isnt even till August.
